Are you hesitant to have a tummy tuck because you’re afraid of pain during recovery? Tummy tucks (also called abdominoplasty) have a reputation as the the most painful of all cosmetic surgeries. I used to keep my tummy tuck patients in the hospital overnight so I could give them morphine for pain. Intravenous morphine. For the last four years, though, I’ve let my patients go home after surgery with only pain pills. And many patients don’t even take the pills.

This 36-year-old wanted her abdomen to look more muscular. She was obviously not overweight; she, in fact, exercised frequently and intensely and wanted her torso to reflect that. She was a perfect candidate for Vaser High Definition Liposuction. I used this advanced technique to thin the abdominal fat layer and sculpt the muscle architecture. The most important step in delivering a great tummy tuck is tightening the abdominal skin just enough. Not too loose. Not too tight. The problem with “too loose” is obvious. The tummy isn’t as flat and as tight as you’d want it to be. The bigger problem is tummy tucks that are too tight.
